District 29 and Post 291 are hosting, “Purpose Beyond the Uniform” with special guest, Darryl Strawberry. Come celebrate with us as he encourages us to a higher calling while we dine on the waterfront in Newport and raise money for District 29 Orange County ALBaseball program.
I hope you can come. More, would you invite others to join us? I know that donation dollars are spread thin, however if you would be willing to contribute, it will go a long way to strengthen our mission. Please go to: https://auctria.events/ALBGala2025
American Legion Baseball is a variety of amateur baseball played by 13-to-19-year-olds in fifty states in the U.S. and Canada. More than 3,500 teams participate each year. According to the American Legion, the purpose of American Legion Baseball is to give players “an opportunity to develop their skills, personal fitness, leadership qualities, and to have fun. The league today, still stands behind the traditional values upon which it was founded in 1925. American Legion Baseball has taught hundreds of thousands of young Americans the importance of sportsmanship, good health and active citizenship. The program is also a promoter of equality, making teammates out of young athletes regardless of their income levels or social standings.
Spearheaded by Robert McClish, the 2021 season was the first for Orange County in a number of years. This year, led by League Administrator Brad McDermott, the league will be represented by teams and sponsored by various American Legion Posts in the Orange County area.
